"We found that of 11 members reporting links to a drug company, nine of them named relationships to remdesivir’s maker Gilead. Seven more, including two of the committee’s leaders, have ties to Gilead beyond the 11 months they had to disclose. 2 were on Gilead’s advisory board."

As Gilead charges $3,120 for its COVID drug, remdesivir, remember that the drug was developed with a $70,000,000 grant from the federal government paid for by American taxpayers. Once again, Big Pharma is set to profit on the people's dime.

New York promised to help states in need as we were helped when we needed it. Today we pay it forward. Tomorrow we will deliver Remdesivir to Florida to help care for COVID patients. The people of NY stand shoulder to shoulder with Americans fighting this virus.

Dr. Fauci speaks on the clinical trial for potential coronavirus treatment drug remdesivir: “What it has proven is that a drug can block this virus ... This drug happens to be blocking an enzyme that the virus uses."

HHS @SecAzar  claimed Trump got an “amazing deal” on the COVID-19 drug remdesivir – but the US is paying the highest prices in the world. We want HHS to explain why it got such a bad deal – and why it didn't use its legal authorities to keep prices down.

As Gilead's stock price rises on reports of remdesivir, remember that the drug was developed with a $37.5 million grant from the federal government paid for by the taxpayers. Once again, Big Pharma is set to profit on the taxpayer's dime.

Remdesivir costs less than $10 to manufacture. @GileadSciences  is charging $3,100 for it. Taxpayers spent $70 million to develop this drug. Coronavirus has killed 130,000 Americans. It's time to take control of this patent and provide remdesivir to all who need it.

Remdesivir, a potential treatment for coronavirus, has boosted Gilead's stock price in recent days. But here's the catch: Remdesivir was developed with taxpayer funding through CDC and NIH. No drug that was developed with public dollars should be used to pad pharma profits.
