Putin exacts payback for saving Syria's Assad. "Earlier this month his foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, visited Damascus, seeking new energy and construction contracts. 'Our saviors have become vultures,' says a Syrian businessman loyal to the regime."

"Donald Trump's big lie on #COVID19  takes us into propaganda territory we are more likely to associate with autocrats like Vladimir Putin, or Hungary’s Viktor Orban, or Syria’s Bashar al-Assad," writes columnist @trudyrubin .

Most leaders might think twice about cutting in half the border crossings for humanitarian aid to Syria's Idlib province where 1.3 million civilians depend on it, but Putin is already bombing hospitals and schools, all to support murderous, corrupt Assad.

Whether it's bombing hospitals and schools or halving the cross-border entry points for urgently needed UN humanitarian aid in Syria's Idlib province, Putin shows that dead Syrian civilians are an acceptable path for backing the murderous, corrupt Assad.

Syria's Pres Assad warns of a possible "real catastrophe" from the coronavirus. He should have thought of that when, with Russian Pres Putin's indispensable assistance, he systematically bombed hospitals in opposition-held areas. #WarCrimes

As Syria now admits to its first coronavirus case, Assad may soon realize how short-sighted his and Putin's war-crime strategy was of targeting hospitals and other medical facilities in opposition-held areas. Germs don't know who the opposition is.

Putin Has a Syria ‘Headache’ and the Kremlin’s Blaming Assad

If a Russian news agency close to Putin is calling Syria's Assad weak, powerless, and corrupt, that begs the question why Putin has adopted Assad's war-crime strategy of indiscriminately bombing civilians (and targeting hospitals) to keep him in power.

For the moment, Putin and Assad have stopped their war-crime bombing of hospitals in Syria's rebel-held Idlib province, but the deadly effects linger on as three million civilians await the coronavirus "tsunami."

Hard truth: Erdogan knows that Trump wants U.S. forces to leave Syria. Putin knows that Trump wants U.S. forces to leave Syria. Khamenei and Assad know the same thing. Trump himself yesterday (incredibly) said we no longer have forces in Syria. We do, and today they were shot at.

Many dead, including women and children, in mindless CHEMICAL attack in Syria. Area of atrocity is in lockdown and encircled by Syrian Army, making it completely inaccessible to outside world. President Putin, Russia and Iran are responsible for backing Animal Assad. Big price...

President @realDonaldTrump ’s betrayal of the Kurds has given 3 dictators—Putin, Assad, and Erdogan—a free hand to expand their dark shadow over Syria. It’s bad for America and for our partners the Kurds. Why is he kowtowing to dictators?

President Trump’s erratic, reckless decision making in Syria has put Americans at risk & given a free hand to dictators—Putin, Assad, Erdogan. This is a dereliction of duty. Republicans need to stand up to him now before more ISIS prisoners go free.

Tonight as the Kurdish people look up at the stars here in northern Syria, they have many big decisions to make. Where to send their families? Who can they trust? Can they reconcile with the Assad govenment? Can the trust Putin? And why Trump started all this mess to begin with.

Putin became the kingmaker in Syria today as he and Erdogan carved up the Kurd’s homeland. Geopolitically, it’s a win for Russia. On a human level, the Kurds think it’s a catastrophe. Their fate is now the hands of Putin, Erdogan and Assad - and they don’t trust any of them.

HR McMaster, ex-Trump National Security Adviser, on Trump's Syria move: “Guess who wants that really badly?" he asked. "Vladimir Putin and the Assad regime. Once you cede control there, you cede influence over what does a post-civil war Syria look like.”

What are Putin's goals? 1- Undermine NATO. 2- Force West to accept Crimea annexation. 3- Undermine western democracies thru election interference. 4- Ensure survival of Assad regime & Russia bases in Syria. Trump is now aiding Putin on each one.

As Trump says of Putin meeting: "Frankly, Putin may be the easiest of them all." a reminder: -Putin annexed Crimea -Putin invaded E. Ukraine -Putin interfered in 2016 to aid Trump -Putin supports Assad in Syria & targets civilians to do so -Putin used nerve agent to murder in UK

Assad and Putin committed war crimes against the people of Syria last night and Trump is tweeting about Hillary Clinton. How long will GOP leaders remain quiet about his unfitness to govern?
