This morning, I had the honor of meeting with George Floyd’s brother Philonise Floyd, Eric Garner’s mother Gwen Carr, Ben Crump, and the families of other victims of police violence. This Senate is committed to getting strong policing reform with meaningful accountability done.
From colleague Kelle Phares. Attorney Ben Crump is currently on Capitol Hill with members of George Floyd's family, including brother Philonise Floyd. Met with Schumer this morning. Also expected to meet with Sen Tim Scott (R-SC) on police reform.
George Floyd's brother, Philonise Floyd, tells Gayle King about the moment he heard that Derek Chauvin was "guilty, guilty and guilty": "All I had in my head was, ‘Man, this is not just for George. This is for everybody around the world.'”
"George wasn't hurting anyone that day. He didn't deserve to die over $20. I am asking you, is that what a black man's worth? $20? This is 2020. Enough is enough." - Philonise Floyd, George Floyd's brother, testifying on Capitol Hill
