"Palestinians are left to endure, alone, and mostly out of sight, the trauma, indignities and provocations that long ago became a routine aspect of day-to-day life under Israel’s suffocating military occupation." — #AJOpinion  by Andrew Mitrovica

Israel has blockaded Gaza for 14 years and bans most construction materials from entering — like cement and pipes. Airstrikes by Israel in May killed over 250 people and destroyed about 2,000 homes. Lacking many new materials, Palestinians are recycling the rubble to rebuild.

"Netanyahu proved that Israel does not need to make any meaningful concessions to the Palestinians and can abandon any semblance of making progress in a nonexistent 'diplomatic process' with them and still prosper." That leaves Israel with apartheid.

I saw a lot more instances of entirely unnecessary, provocative behavior by Israeli police/military today. At Damascus Gate (stun grenades thrown at peaceful Palestinian group), in Sheikh Jarrah (skunk water fired on Palestinian homes) & Bethlehem (volleys of tear gas)

A Palestinian child should be sitting in a classroom, not in rubble. World leaders must act immediately to protect the human rights of Palestinians.

Israeli police stormed Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa Mosque hours after the Israel-Hamas ceasefire, firing rubber bullets and stun grenades at Palestinians. Witnesses say some Palestinians stayed after Friday prayers to celebrate the ceasefire. Police claim there were "riots."

The U.S. blocked the UN Security Council from issuing a statement aimed at reducing tensions between Israel and Palestinians, diplomats say. Sources told @AFP  that 14 out of 15 Sec. Council members were in favor of the statement. The U.S. also blocked a similar text on Monday.

BREAKING: The U.S. blocked a UN Security Council statement demanding a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, reports @AFP . It is the third time the U.S. has blocked a resolution. Israeli airstrikes have killed about 200 Palestinians in Gaza including 58 children.

Horrifying. It was bad enough when Palestinians in Gaza weren’t able to get vaccinated, but now to reportedly lose their only coronavirus testing lab is... beyond words.

The devastation in Gaza is unconscionable. We must urge an immediate ceasefire. The killing of Palestinians and Israelis must end. We must also take a hard look at nearly $4 billion a year in military aid to Israel. It is illegal for U.S. aid to support human rights violations.

Thank you to the people of Oxford for their support and solidarity with the Palestinians in Gaza and West Bank. #FreePalaestine
