'The racism is meant to tell me I don't belong in politics.' In an interview with Owen Jones, Diane Abbott lists the racist and sexist abuse she is subjected to on a daily basis

In a sane society Owen Jones would be a completely uncontroversial figure. A guy who thinks there could be a more equitable society delivered by parliamentary politics. I mean, that should be a fairly moderate position, no? Now to not look at my mentions for about two weeks.

I send my solidarity to Owen Jones and his friends who were attacked last night. Owen believes it was politically motivated, and we know the far right is on the march in our country. An attack on a journalist is an attack on free speech and our fundamental values.

I wonder if it’s ok when condemning the behaviour toward Owen Jones & Anna Soubry, to gently point out that John McDonnell called for Tory MPs not to be able to show their faces in public without being challenged by direct action. And this shows at least the problem with that.
