Dr Ronan Glynn says NPHET has recommended mandatory quarantine for international arrivals here, but it's up to politicians to decide if that can work.
NPHET officials have said that the measures to control #Covid19 are working, but that rates in the community are still very high, and more work is needed.
“The Nphet noted that in response to the emergence of variant strains, many EU countries have adopted more stringent travel policies ... to include combinations of pre-departure testing, quarantine requirements on arrival and post-arrival testing rules.”
It appears that NPHET are briefing the media again ahead of its primary function of advising Cabinet causing speculation and worry. If this leaking continues, questions must be asked as to whether or not the body is fit for purpose in its current form.

The Cabinet is to set to reject NPHET's recommendation to place the entire country under Level 5 restrictions. Every county will be placed under Level 3 instead.
