Unlike online classrooms in other parts of Utah, most of the students attending Bluff Elementary live in remote areas of the Navajo Nation where there isn't the internet bandwidth to support a teacher livestreaming her lessons.

Members of the Navajo Nation organized a horse trail to the polls for early voting. As part of the Protect the Sacred initiative, they rode 10 miles in honor of their ancestors who traveled even greater distances to cast their votes.

Navajo Nation reports highest daily number of new COVID-19 cases since June

The Navajo Nation reported 130 new COVID-19 cases yesterday — the daily case count hasn't been that high since early June. Officials are warning about community spread, meaning people may contract COVID without knowing how they were exposed. @VPNez 

Navajo Nation health officials on Thursday reported 130 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 but no deaths for the ninth time in the last 10 days.

"Cases of COVID-19 are on the rise all across our country and in the states of New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah," @VPNez  said. "Here on the Navajo Nation, we have the opportunity to set an example for the entire country.”

The Navajo Department of Health reported 71 new COVID-19 positive cases for the Navajo Nation and no recent deaths.

The death rate from Covid-19 in Navajo nation is now higher than any single state. We should all be outraged by the suffering and neglect continually inflicted on Native peoples.

The Navajo Nation has more coronavirus cases per capita than all but two states. Tribes were supposed to get $8 billion from the CARES Act — more than a month later, they haven't seen a single cent of relief. Let that sink in.

On the Navajo Nation reservation, COVID has killed more people than in the entire state of New Mexico, which has a population 13 times larger. Let that sink in.

To ignore the Navajo Nation is a denial of humanity and an acceptance of genocide. They deserve better.
