Canada is one step closer to getting a three-digit national suicide prevention hotline after a unanimous vote in the House of Commons.

The House of Commons took a step closer to establishing a national three-digit suicide prevention hotline today.

Designating 988 as the new National Suicide Prevention Hotline – effective July 2022– reaffirms that #suicideprevention  services should be easily accessible for all. Read our fact sheet to learn about the timeline & current mental health resources: #FCCGov

President Trump has signed into law a bipartisan bill that will make 9-8-8 the universal telephone number to reach the national suicide prevention hotline starting in 2022
