The Conservative Government’s disastrous management of the #COVID19  crisis was inevitable. It’s what happens when a national public health emergency is tackled by politicians with a small state ideology, disdain for the public sector, and a long term austerity agenda

Boris #Johnson  and Dominic#Cunmings  have torn up the social contract between Government and the people. This is unforgivable during a viral pandemic and national emergency, where trust in our public health policies is the key to containing the virus and saving lives

It was welcome to see President Trump stress hygiene. But he didn't say how his admin will address testing nor call for a national emergency. He made inaccurate statements. Congress is working quickly to address this public health crisis. President Trump must do the same.

Currently @IHSgov , tribal health programs, & urban Indian health programs aren't ensured access to the Strategic National Stockpile of drugs & medical supplies for a public health emergency like coronavirus. @SenatorTomUdall  & I have a bill for that.

This is very concerning and exactly why I have asked the Administration to declare a national public health emergency. We need to be well equipped to help Americans. We have to get serious about the threat of the coronavirus coming from China.

Addiction is a disease, not criminal activity. Here's who should be held criminally liable: The top executives of the opioid manufacturers who lied by pushing a product they knew was addictive on doctors and patients, causing a national public health emergency.

Mr. President, #opioids  kill 130 Americans a day. In 2017, you said this is a public health emergency, but you didn't follow through with funding or action. Declaring a “national emergency” & diverting billions to an ineffective wall won't provide treatment needed to save lives.

Effective today, my administration officially declared the #OpioidCrisis  a NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY under federal law.

There is no “national security emergency” at the border. But if the government remains partially shuttered, there may well be a life-threatening national event: a breakdown in airport security; a food-borne public health crisis.

Big pharmaceutical companies have unleashed an opioid crisis from the California coast to the mountains of West Virginia. Once and for all, we must call drug addiction what it is: a national public health emergency.
