On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I take the opportunity to urge governments, organizations and individuals to rededicate themselves to making the achievement of peace the centerpiece of our lives.

Aug. 6 marks the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in Japan. After the 2nd bomb fell on Nagasaki, the U.S. enforced a ban, in both countries, on photographs that showed the civilian impact.

"There is a sense of impending crisis that we don't have much longer to live." Michiko Kodama is a hibakusha, an atomic bomb survivor. This year, she and other survivors took to an online gathering to share their stories on Japan's #Hiroshima75  and Nagasaki anniversary #被爆75年
