BREAKING NEWS: In a long-awaited and much anticipated decision, Miami-Dade County Public Schools will start the school year remotely and at a later date of Wednesday, Aug. 31.

Even with half of the number of cases as Miami-Dade, Broward County Public Schools has already called it. The second-largest school district in the state will start the school year Aug. 19 fully online.

#UPDATE - As #HurricaneDorian  continues to move west toward Florida, Miami-Dade County Public SchoolsSuperintendent Alberto Carvalho has announced all schools will remain closed on Tuesday.

#UPDATE : Miami-Dade Public Schools confirm 18-year-old Sol Pais at center of massive manhunt is a student at Miami Beach Senior High. They also stress that there's no current threat to public schools in the county.
