As part of the reopening activity, Masungi also presented its new trail visitation and hiking protocols following the new normal guidelines amid the novel coronavirus pandemic. Masungi's trails will be open for limited, private, and pre-registered visits starting November 25.

While the fences put up by a company within the Masungi Georeserve in Rizal have been removed, a trustee of the protected forest area said they are expecting that a group of armed guards "might return" as a similar incident already happened in 2016.

Environment Usec. Jonas Leones said they have sent a show cause order to the company that put up illegal fences within the Masungi Georeserve in Rizal province, requiring them to submit evidence of ownership in the area. Read more here:
