Very sorry to hear of the death of Brent Scowcroft, natl. sec. adviser to Pres. Ford and Bush 41, mentor to so many in the field in DC. He was constantly reexamining his own views, pressing us to dig deeper and think harder. I will miss walking across Lafayette Park to see him.

A congressman just revealed on MSNBC that the Park Police apparently have recordings of police radio transmissions from the day before the clearing of Lafayette Sq. And from the day after. But on the day they cleared the park, the recording device malfunctioned. So weird!

Almost two months after U.S. Park Police used batons and tear gas to drive protestors out of Lafayette Park near the White House, a high-ranking member of the D.C. National Guard said the way that police acted was “deeply disturbing.”

Numerous people arrested in D.C. for the disgraceful vandalism, in Lafayette Park, of the magnificent Statue of Andrew Jackson, in addition to the exterior defacing of St. John’s Church across the street. 10 years in prison under the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act. Beware!

The president’s walk through Lafayette Park, controlled the night before by rioters, to the burned out St. John’s Church, holding his bible in his hand, was truly historic. A fabulous moment of enormous important.

The President must immediately reopen Lafayette Square to the public. This unique park should be a symbol of freedom & openness, not a militarized zone behind which President Trump cowers in fear of protesters who are crying out for justice.

WH official telling me operation should have been carried at Lafayette Park hours earlier when the area was not as crowded with protesters. The official said it was about "optics" and that the operation didn't work out as well as they had hoped, given the chaos that erupted.

Trump has still not taken questions from WH reporters since protesters were gassed and beaten at Lafayette Park Monday.
