The Cardinals are nearing a return to play following the team's COVID-19 outbreak. Here's the latest on the plan for Chicago from John Mozeliak.

The Cardinals' series against pirates has been postponed due to more COVID-19 cases. On Sunday, team president of baseball operations John Mozeliak confirmed another player has tested positive for the virus. That brings the Cardinals' total number of cases to 17.

St. Louis Cardinals president John Mozeliak says there's no timetable when the #STLCards  will again take the field: "It's a bummer.''

John Mozeliak: "We can't have too many more starts and stops, because if we do, then we'll have an adverse effect on people mentally.'' #STLCards 

John Mozeliak: "There was no scenario that made any sense to play any of these games [vs. the Pirates on Monday-Wednesday]. The #STLCards  still are awaiting clearance simply to have workouts again.

#STLCards president John Mozeliak, who has had 17 members of the organization test positive for COVID-19, with no timetable on return: "Hopefully, the next time we chat we'll have maybe a little more positive news. No, I mean good news. Hopefully, a little more good news.''

Rival execs expect the #StLCards  to make a legit pitch for #Marlins  Marcell Ozuna or Christian Yelich now that the Stanton ship has sailed. It's more of a pure baseball trade and probably more in John Mozeliak's comfort zone anyway.
