Shadow Transport Minister@CatherineKingMP  says the Morrison government’s decision to end JobKeeper in March is “incredibly frustrating” following the loss of 2,000 Qantas jobs.

How many large firms made record profits this year, yet got taxpayer subsidies from JobKeeper? The Morrison Govt knows, and it’s about time they told the rest of us. #auspol  #DividendKeeper  #BonusKeeper  #CEOKeeper  @OMgovernance  @unionsaustralia

"The JobKeeper program has been consistent with our principles that we set out early in this pandemic. Namely, those measures would be temporary, targeted, scalable, and be proportionate to the challenge we face. " - @JoshFrydenberg  #auspol  #abc730

At the height of COVID-19 an emotional Qantas boss, Alan Joyce, called his staff family. Today, he sacked 2000 of them -- that's after taking almost a billion dollars of tax-payer money through JobKeeper to keep people employed. | @Stela_Todorovic

Australia: AMW: Making a molehill out of a fiscal cliff?: Treasurer Frydenberg today stated JobKeeper numbers have more than halved from a peak of 3.6m, to now just 1.5m as at 26 November. The post AMW: Making a molehill out of a fiscal cliff?… NAB

Fresh numbers point to the government saving around $6 billion in the December quarter alone on its JobKeeper program.

JobKeeper was designed to reduce inequality. But some firms are using taxpayer money to pay massive executive bonuses. In 90 seconds, I listed the worst offenders #auspol  #ausecon  @OMgovernance

Hey Gerry, with profits like that, maybe you should think about paying back the $9 million that Harvey Norman & franchisees got from the taxpayer via JobKeeper? There are plenty of battlers who could use the help. #auspol  @OMgovernance ⁩

In March, billionaire Solomon Lew tearfully called Frydenberg to ask the govt to introduce JobKeeper . His firm got around $45m in JobKeeper. It just announced huge profits & $57m dividend. Lew will personally get over $20m. #auspol

Here's the 25 firms that took a taxpayer handout designed to keep regular workers employed, then paid it out to executives already on multi-million dollar salaries. Hey guys, it's JobKeeper, not BonusKeeper. #auspol

As universities face their biggest crisis while deliberately kept from JobKeeper, the Coalition's uni bill is likely to pass senate. It will cut $2 billion a year from core research funding. There is no guarantee they will get it back elsewhere. My piece:

Bit rich for @JoshFrydenberg  to be talking about public policy failures of @DanielAndrewsMP  when he is the Treasurer who made a $60 billion error in JobKeeper which has denied millions of Australians the help they need to keep a job. #auspol  #lookoverthere

So get this, the fed govt is paying bonuses to private job agencies for 'placing' and keeping people in a job that ends up being paid for by JobKeeper. It's a taxpayer cash merry-go-round as doubt clouds future for those on income support. My piece:

BREAKING: Unbelievable. The Liberals have just blocked our motion in the Senate to extend JobKeeper to uni staff AGAIN. I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m definitely disappointed. 21,000 jobs are at stake but they just don’t care. #auspol

Let's get this straight: our ever-so-responsible Morrison Govt admits a $60 BILLION ‘reporting error’ in JobKeeper! The same Morrison who crowed only the Libs could be trusted to manage Australia's finances? Of course the Murdoch protection racket lets them get away with it…

The JobKeeper program is now high farce. The govt said it had to draw a line somewhere & did that at $130b. Turns out to be $70b, but it won’t consider saving jobs of casuals, domestic workers of foreign companies or university staff. Totally arbitrary playing with peoples lives.
