It’s a dreich Sunday afternoon on Islay and my tweets about politics only result in people unfollowing me … so here’s some birds from yesterday’s survey for the #BigGardenBirdWatch2023 . Was a lovely bright day and a little flock of greenfinches paid us a rare visit! 😀🕊️🦅🦆

I was in Oban Waterstones the other day and seeing “Lucy by the Sea” on promotion reminded me something I’ve forgotten had made me make a mental note to read some @LizStrout . This ⬇️ is such a beautiful, moving book and so spare I read it in one sitting on the ferry home to Islay

Saw 2 buzzards today: thought the 1st was a golden eagle & 2nd a hen harrier 🙄 But the #BirdsSeenIn2023  list got a new addition thanks to the curlews at the top of Loch Indaal, Islay. Reminded me of @DavidGray ’s lovely #Norfolk  slot on @BBCSpringwatch’s#winterwatch  this week

A little reminder of what a beautiful week of crisp and bright winter weather we’ve had on Islay: this is looking down Loch Indaal to Bowmore and beyond from the monument to John Francis Campbell above Bridgend. It’s a lovely viewpoint I’d never been up to before Monday.

Lovely walk around @CornabusFarm  in the Islay sunshine this morning, much of it accompanied by this sociable little reed bunting ⬇️. Also added fieldfare, meadow pipit and sparrow to my #BirdsSeenIn2023  list. 46 ticked off, 104 to go!
