It is a horror beyond words that Shane Patrick Boyle died because he fell $50 short of raising the money he needed for insulin. Insulin was discovered in 1923 and was sold for $1. No one should beg, ration, go bankrupt, or die over it. This is why we are taking on Big Pharma.

Insulin costs $6 per vial to make. Diabetics need it to survive. Pharma companies in the U.S. sell it for over $300. Our health care system today is not about keeping people alive. It is about making huge profits. Medicare for All is about changing that gross injustice.

The inventors of insulin sold the patent for $1. A vial costs about $5 to make. Yet people with diabetes are dying because drug corporations charge as much as $540 per vial in the United States. That level of greed is criminal. It will end when we are in the White House.

This is the richest country on Earth. Our people should not have to beg for money on GoFundMe to pay for cancer treatment or insulin. Health care should be a right to all our people, not a way for a handful of rich executives to make a profit.

$7,488 per year. That’s how much my daughter’s insulin would cost in the United States. It's so bad, her doctors told her she could save money by ordering it from Canada, where it costs $30 a bottle. We must pass H.R. 3 and #LowerDrugCosts  immediately! #WorldDiabetesDay

Insulin costs 10 times more in the U.S. than in Canada. For the same damn product made by the same damn company, Americans are charged 10 times more. We are going to end that thievery in this country.

The inventors of insulin sold the patent for $1. A vial costs $6 to make. Drugmakers sell it for $300 a vial in the United States. That level of greed is scandalous, it is outrageous, and when we win it is going to end.

-Russian interference -Stagnant wages -Skyrocketing inequality -Mounting student debt -Insulin rationing -Nuclear buildup -Climate catastrophe -Assault weapons -Mass shootings -Trade wars -Opioid deaths -Kids locked in cages at our border What happened to America?

Today in 1922, researchers at the University of Toronto announced the discovery of insulin. They sold the patent for $1 so it would be available to all. 97 years later, Eli Lilly is charging ~$300 and Americans die because they can’t afford their medication. Outrageous.

ooh, first of March! I can open the first window on my Brexit advent calendar! *opens* aww, it's a little picture of insulin shortages
