I stand with @MPlainDS  and our friends around the world in demanding the immediate release of the 12 Hong Kongers arrested at sea while fleeing CCP persecution in #HongKong .  I nominate @SenatorCardin , @JohnCornyn , @CoryGardner , & @SenJeffMerkley  to do the same. #Save12HKYouths

The Commissioner's Office (Beijing's Mofa office in HK) has just put out the following statement in response to the latest details Britain has published on how Hong Kongers with BN(O) can apply to stay in UK.

If Hong Kongers living in mainland get to vote for the city's partially elected legislature, why not those living in London, Sydney, Vancouver and LA? Well the suspicion is the establishment is simply gerrymandering.

One small coda. If this plan goes ahead, is there not a small risk that images of Hong Kongers filling in ballots on the mainland might prompt a few Chinese citizens to ask a potentially awkward question: why don't we get a vote?

Her testimony on a Saturday was a vivid illustration of the opaque, party-controlled judicial system on the mainland that many Hong Kongers fear is one day coming to their restless city.

I’m proud of the Senate’s latest action to support Hong Kong. And I’m proud to have stood alongside Hong Kongers for decades in their fight for true self-determination.

The brutal purpose of Beijing’s so-called “national security” law is to frighten, intimidate & suppress the speech of Hong Kongers. All freedom-loving people must come together to condemn this law, which signals the death of the “one country, two systems” principle.

LR @RepMcCaul : "I commend my Senate colleagues for taking action to advance the #HongKongHumanRightsandDemocracyAct . Americans stand united in our strong support for Hong Kongers as they fight for freedom."

I call upon the administration to prioritize the admission of persecuted Hong Kongers to the United States through the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program. In coordination with our allies, we can help save these brave Hong Kongers from a horrific fate under authoritarian rule.

The CCP wants to end #HongKong 's autonomy and crush the basic rights and freedoms of Hong Kongers. A new, bipartisan bill from @ChrisVanHollen  and me will impose strict sanctions on the CCP officials responsible and any banks they transact with.

The Chinese Communist Party is moving fast to end what is left of Hong Kong’s autonomy, stripping away essential freedoms from Hong Kongers. This is unacceptable and will require a reevaluation of U.S. policy if it is not immediately reversed.

These outrageous arrests are just one more example of Beijing’s shameful efforts to strangle the freedom and autonomy of Hong Kongers. I wrote about these coordinated efforts last year:

“Today, the United States Senate sent a clear message to Hong Kongers fighting for their long-cherished freedoms: we hear you, we continue to stand with you, and we will not stand idly by as Beijing undermines your autonomy." — Sen. Marco Rubio PASSED ✅

Today the Senate stood with Hong Kongers against CCP tyranny. Beijing has been warned that the United States will consider stripping Hong Kong’s special status and take additional measures if it continues to encroach on the city’s basic freedoms.

Senator Marco Rubio stands with the brave Hong Kongers advocating for Hong Kong to maintain its long-cherished and promised autonomy and freedoms against Beijing's interference. The full Senate will soon be passing Sen. Rubio's #HongKongHumanRightsAndDemocracyAct
