We will be judged on our relationship with the poor. When Jesus says, "The poor you will always have with you", he is saying, "I will always be with you in the poor; I will be present there". This is at the center of the Gospel, so much so that we will be judged on it.

In this Sunday's Gospel (Mt 10:26-33) Jesus invites us not to be afraid, to be strong and confident in the face of life's challenges, because even when we encounter setbacks, our lives rest firmly in God’s hands, who loves us and takes care of us.

Funny how the media are defending and promoting “the whistleblower” and they’ve no idea who he is and don’t care. And funny how they’re reading from his screed as if it’s gospel when it’s highly political, partisan, and hearsay.
