I keep thinking about this piece I wrote almost four years ago, flagging Trump’s use of Christian nationalism in his inaugural address.
JUST IN: Twitter, President Trump's social media platform of choice, has now, for the first time ever, deleted his last two tweets after flagging them for inciting violence.
Twitter has escalated its flagging of Trump tweets. It says his video contains disputed information and carries "a risk of violence."
Reddit banned a major pro-Trump subreddit (r/The_Donald) for violating rules, saying users consistently use hate speech or racially harass others. Twitch also temporarily banned President Trump's official channel, and Twitter has been flagging his tweets for similar violations.
Twitter for the first time placed a fact-checking notification on President Trump's tweets, flagging his claims that mail-in ballots will be ‘substantially fraudulent’ and result in a ‘rigged election’
Trump campaign manager on Twitter flagging Trump mail in vote tweets: “We always knew that Silicon Valley would pull out all the stops to obstruct and interfere with President Trump getting his message through to voters.”
So I see Twitter is going to start flagging Donald Trump’s tweets that violate the company’s rules. It’s a start. But I am much more concerned about the president’s actions that foment and perpetuate cruelty while violating common decency and humanity.
