Update Bear Creek hiker rescue- One person brought down by FF’s with an extremity injury and will be transported to a local hospital for treatment.

Update Glenwood Cr- Small fire was found and is now out. Two occupants were found inside by FF’s and taken outside. One will be transported to local hospital for evaluation and one treated and released on scene.

78 years ago today 6 FF’s were tragically killed at the Luongo restaurant fire in Maverick Square East Boston, when the building collapsed. Francis Degan E-3, John Foley E-3, Edward Macomber E-12, Daniel McGuire L-2, Peter McMorrow E-50, Malachi Reddington E-33. Never Forget RIP.

#ColoradoSpringsFire . CSFD is sending one Brush Engine with a crew of 3 FF’s and 1 Fire Lt. as a Strike Team Leader to the Cameron Peak fire. The crew is departing from Station 9 in approx 2 hours.

This is an example of what make @CityOfBoston ⁩ great. The selfless acts of kindness and generosity by our communities to our 1st Responders has been overwhelming. Thank you to The Boston Church of Christ ,for dropping off a meal to the FF’s in Grove Hall. #Boston  Strong

Martin’s leadership under pressure as FF’s support plummets in poll

UPDATE- Barnes#trenchrescue . Patient extricated from collapse after arrival of CSFD in 1 hour 29 min. CSFD paramedic in trench with patient. Complicated rescue with lots of resources 27 FF’s and @CSUtilities  vacuum truck. Patient enroute to local hospital for evaluation

At approx. 4:40 pm Tower Ladder 10 was responding to a building fire and was involved in a motor vehicle accident at 350 South Huntington Ave. 5 FF’S transported by @BOSTON_EMS ⁩ to the hospital for evaluation. The driver of the SUV , declined medical treatment .

48 years ago the worst firefighting tragedy in Boston, 9 FF’s killed in the Line of Duty Lt. Thomas Carroll, Lt. John Hanbury Jr., FF Thomas Beckwith, FF Joseph Boucher, FF Charles Dolan, FF John Jameson, FF Richard Magee, FF Paul Murphy, FF Joseph Saniuk. May they Rest In Peace

At approx 10:55 a call for a trolley derailed between Fenway and Kenmore. FF’s had to carry multiple people in stoke baskets from the tunnel . 10 people transported @BOSTON_EMS  . A great job by multiple agencies working together.

Today is the 100 year anniversary of Boston’s great molasses flood. 21 people died including FF. George Layhe of E-31. When the tank exploded it severely damaged the Firehouse,causing an internal collapse ,trapping FF’s and killing FF’s Layhe in the debris

54 years ago today on Oct. 1, 1964, 5 Boston FF’s were killed when a 5-alarm fire ripped through a vacant building at 34 Trumbull St. in the So. End causing a wall to collapse. 1 civilian was killed.

Today Baker signed a bill into law that designates cancer as a work-related injury for FF’s across the State. The bill also has language specific to female FF’s that addresses breast & reproductive cancers.

The BFD is known for their ladder work. These vintage photos from the collection depict this BFD trademark. Multiple ladders & running hose lines over ladders provides numerous escape routes & gives FF’s a direct access to the seat of the fire.

On Sunday June 17th at 12pm a wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 46th Anniversary of the Hotel Vendome tragedy that claimed the lives of 9 Boston FF’s will occur at the memorial which is located at Comm. Ave & Dartmouth St.

Last night and the film crew from were at E-33 & L-15 in Boston’s Back Bay to tape footage for their upcoming special on the hidden danger FF’s face; Cancer. The episode will air March 13 at 8 pm. Thank you for bringing attention to this issue.
