Erdogan's Turkey has seen the continued ethnic cleansing of Kurds, weaponization of Islamism, invasion of Syria/Libya, revisionist destruction of non-muslim religious sites, tyrannical oppression of minorities, jailing of 1000s of journalists+academics, constant threats of war.

@JMJalel_H  You’re right that Macron has grown suspicious of Erdogan partly in relation with the T community in France, and still is. But I think the geopolitical dimension goes far beyond this from Syria to Libya, the Aegean Sea, NATO and you name it... and Macron’s EU leadership ambition.

The Erdogan movie has a clear message outwards: Turkey is a new world power. Ankara’s reach won’t end with Syria and Libya, but where it chooses @Istanbultelaviv  Opinion

"It is clear that the Erdogan establishment is not only a threat to Greece as, apart from certain European countries, it also irritates many states in the region – mainly Syria, Egypt and Israel."

Trump today said “nothing happened” when he handed 2/3 of ISIS’s former caliphate in Syria to Erdogan and Putin, leaving our partners to fend for themselves, and displacing 200k people fleeing bands of extremists responsible for war crimes. 1/6

Today in Syria: Russia takes control of main U.S. military facility abandoned earlier this week by American forces on Trump’s orders. This area is south of Kobani and went to Russia under the Putin-Erdogan deal. Russia now also owns the airstrip we built.

Trump plays golf as US forces in Syria now on a daily basis confront Russians thanks to his impetuous decision to abandon 2/3 of once-stable ground to Putin and Erdogan. Mr. President: Pick up the phone and tell Putin to stop harassing our troops.👇

CNN Exclusive: Turkey says Trump knew ‘precisely’ about scope of N. Syria operation. “President Trump and President Erdogan have reached an understanding over precisely what this operation is,” Gulnur Aybet, Senior Adviser to the President of Turkey told @camanpour

....Also talked about their Border with Syria, the eradication of terrorism, the ending of hostilities with the Kurds, and many other topics. Look forward to seeing President Erdogan next Wednesday, November 13th at the @WhiteHouse  !

President @realDonaldTrump ’s betrayal of the Kurds has given 3 dictators—Putin, Assad, and Erdogan—a free hand to expand their dark shadow over Syria. It’s bad for America and for our partners the Kurds. Why is he kowtowing to dictators?

President Trump's capitulation to Erdogan over Syria is an unmitigated disaster and may lead to a resurgence of ISIS. Trump's impulsive decision to withdraw our forces and betray our Kurdish allies has done incalculable damage to our national security and standing in the world.

Erdogan calls> @realDonald Trump caves, says 28 troops coming home>Turkey invades>ISIS prisoners escape>Kurds killed>Putin moves in>ISIS re-energized, threatens oil>Trump reportedly moving 500 troops + tanks back into Syria to guard oil. This isn’t leadership. It’s weakness.

Syria is complicated, but this is simple. A week ago, our Kurdish partners were secure, ISIS was at bay, and hundreds of their fighters were detained. Then the President talked to Erdogan late one night, and disaster was unleashed. Now we’re scrambling to contain the damage.

European nations are some of our closest allies. Our security is intertwined. If Trump's impulsive capitulation to Erdogan leads to a resurgence of ISIS, it threatens everyone- in Syria, in Europe, and here at home. America may not have a friend left after this presidency.
