“At that time the pandemic was also already widespread in the United Kingdom. By December a total of some 3,550 deaths had been reported in England and Wales. The second wave was particularly devastating, and by March 1958 an estimated 69,800 deaths had occurred in the USA.”
There were 23,200 excess winter deaths which occurred in England and Wales between December 2018 and March 2019 – lower than any other year since 2013 to 2014
