Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer will speak about COVID-19 to the state on Thursday and will be joined by health director Elizabeth Hertel, typically an indication of changes to the state's epidemic orders.​

Gov. Whitmer, MDHHS Director Elizabeth Hertel & Dr. Joneigh Khaldun will provide the update this morning. It comes just days after Whitmer said she anticipates potential "forthcoming policy changes that will feel a little more normal for all of us."

The trip came days after Gov. Whitmer's administration levied public warnings about out-of-state travel. On April 2, director of MDHHS Elizabeth Hertel was quoted in a press release that encouraged "spring break travelers" to get tested for the virus.
