In response to threats during Inauguration week, Gov. DeSantis signed an executive order Friday night deploying Florida National Guard troops to protect the Florida Capitol.

More than a third of governors -- including Florida's Gov. DeSantis -- had called out the National Guard to help protect their state capitols and aid local law enforcement officers.

Gov. Ron DeSantis has issued an executive order activating the Florida National Guard, authorizing their assistance as needed for state and local law enforcement "for security missions and assignments necessary to maintain peace."
