29th December 2022.  Vivienne Westwood died today, peacefully and surrounded by her family, in Clapham, South London. The world needs people like Vivienne to make a change for the better.

Though it was a vigil, not a protest, the scenes from Clapham should be a red warning light that the UK Government should not be rushing through divisive laws to crack down on the right to protest. @UKLabour  will be voting against the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill (1/3)

I was always going to vote against the Police, Crime, Sentencing & Courts Bill. Amongst much else, it attacks the right to protest. But because women held a defiant vigil at Clapham Common yesterday, Labour will now vote against it too. Don’t underestimate the power of protest.

Those women in Clapham were so nasty for turning on those poor police, weren’t they? That’s what HM’s Inspector of Constabulary would have us believe. Does he think we’re stupid?

People gathered at Clapham Common Bandstand in south London this afternoon to pay tribute to Sarah Everard

The scenes in Clapham last night were utterly appalling. Police tactics were shameful. I can barely believe my eyes. It’s also incredible that we now have to seek appropriate repercussions from a Home Secretary whose own misconduct has been swept under the carpet.

Cressida Dick has lost the confidence of the millions of women in London and should resign. The scenes this evening of the policing of the Clapham Common vigil in memory of Sarah Everard are utterly disgraceful and shame the Metropolitan Police.
