Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a man of integrity and determination who fought hard to ensure that no one in America would be denied a voice in our elections. As we celebrate him today, I call on my colleagues to honor him and pass critical voting rights legislation. #MLKDay
Judge Gilbert S. Merritt understood the power of his position and sought to use it to advance justice for the Americans he served and to help build democracies abroad. He was a man of great integrity and I am lucky to have benefitted from his mentorship, wisdom, and friendship.
Dr. King's words continue to shine a light into the shadowed places of our psyche. His courage inspires us to face what we find there. On Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, each of us can move forward. In integrity and service, let us move closer to the world of which he dreamed.
