After being wounded in the shooting at the Chabad of Poway, Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein wrapped his bloodied hand in a prayer shawl, stood on a chair, and addressed the congregation: “We are a Jewish nation that will stand tall. We will not let anyone take us down.”

Yet again a place of worship is the target of senseless gun violence and hate. Anti-Semitism is real in this country and we must not be silent - enough is enough. My heart aches for the Chabad of Poway synagogue and the Jewish community.

The tragedy at the Chabad of Poway synagogue was an attack on the Jewish community — not just in Poway, but everywhere. We will not be divided by hate & fear. An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.

Will praying Psalms 147:3 for the people of the Chabad of Poway and the broader Jewish community. You do not grieve alone. “He heals the brokenhearted And binds up their wounds.”

The timing of the shooting at Congregation Chabad is significant. It's the last day of Passover, one of the holiest Jewish celebrations of the year. It also comes exactly six months to the day after the shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh

I am heartsick hearing of the shooting at Chabad of Poway—an act of violence in a place of worship on this meaningful day is horrifying. Gun violence continues to plague our country in frightening ways every single day. My heart is with Poway and the Jewish community tonight.

Our hearts are with the congregation of Chabad of Poway today in the wake of this horrible hate crime during Passover. We must stand strong against anti-Semitism and with our Jewish brothers and sisters. Hate has no place in our community.

Lori Kaye, who was killed Saturday at a synagogue when a man opened fire during a service on the last day of Passover, was a loyal friend and follower of the Jewish faith and a founding member of the Chabad of Poway.
