Bryan Chávez and his mom were among thousands of migrant families the Trump administration separated. This week, they were in the first group of families the Biden administration reunited as part of a new task force's efforts.

Bryan Chavez was separated from his mom Sandra Ortiz at the US-Mexico border when he was 15 years old. Now 18, Chavez is hugging his mom for the first time in more than three years.

"There's literally no words to describe the happiness that I’m feeling right now," Bryan Chavez says after being reunited with his mother after more than 3 years of being separated from his family at the southern border.

Bryan Chávez carried a bundle of Mother's Day balloons as he headed toward the border.

“I was seeing her with my own eyes, but I couldn’t believe she was there in front of me,” said Bryan Chavez about reuniting with his mother after more than three years.
