The government has rowed back on its pledge of gigabit broadband for all by 2025 - Rishi Sunak now only promising 85% coverage by then. No surprise to broadband suppliers who never thought it was feasible but big disappointment for rural Britain

Chancellor Rishi Sunak has delivered a "kick in the teeth" to people living in rural areas by quietly dropping a pledge to connect the whole of the UK with gigabit capable broadband by 2025, pulling it back to just 85%, reports @matthfield 

The money should go to disaster response, education, public health, and a national broadband program, says Senator Panfilo Lacson.
