SCARY: The sky in Bodrum, Turkey turned bright orange and filled with smoke from fires burning in the popular tourist area. Firefighters are working to contain the blaze.

Residents of a southern Turkish village scrambled to save themselves and their livestock from wildfires that erupted near the resort beach resort of Bodrum.

NEW: The Turkish authorities have sent us this video which they claim was filmed at 0726 this morning off Bodrum. It shows Greek coastguard carrying out ‘pushbacks’ of migrant dinghies. Shots are also fired into the water. More @SkyNews

This is Bodrum. We’re living in hell, says the mayor: “It’s not possible to put down the fires from the ground, and it’s too late to use firefighter planes or helicopters. We’re trying to protect residential areas. But we can do nothing to save the trees
