@Raf_Epstein  @The_Nationals  " @senbmckenzie ...we've sought throughout this period to make sure that regional Aust is protected, and that we're securing a sustainable future for the regions where the opportunities that are touted to come from this...are actually secured for the regions. " 📻

@MarkusMannheim  is reporting vaccination rates as a share of the total population. ACT 71%, NSW 70%, Vic 61%, Tas 59%, SA 51%, NT 49%, Qld 48%, WA 47%, Aust 60%. Hopefully we’ll all move to this metric in coming months. #auspol  #ItsARace

ABS industry jobs data shows the big losers over the 3 months to August were retail, accom & food services, arts and rec which is no surprise given the lockdowns in SE Aust But over the last year the big losers in terms of jobs have been agric, wholesale trade and construction

ABS Aust payroll jobs rose 0.2% over the 2 wks to 25 Sept. Vic looks to have bottomed and NSW and the ACT have started to recover after their lockdown driven hit. (ABS table)

PM, re Aust Post & the watches: "If you're running a govt-owned business then it is taxpayers' money & it has to be treated like that." (So is $30m spent on the $3m-valued Leppington triangle, & the $500m commuter carpark fund, & the $150K-per-MP grant handouts arrangement etc)

So Morrison’s thundering outrage at an entirely legitimate decision by then Aust Post CEO Christine Holgate to award $20k worth of bonuses has now cost over $350k in recruitment fees alone to replace her.

Congrats to the Indian cricket team @BCCI  That’s one of the best series wins I can ever remember on Aust soil & to do it after being bowled out for 36, plus a depleted squad-shows tremendous character, resilience, courage & belief. Just fantastic @RaviShastriOfc  @ajinkyarahane88

Here’s Abbott, the most destructive politician in generations, offered front page of Murdoch’s rag, pontificating on “lessons learned”! Like single-handedly destroying Aust manufacturing & the car industry? Killin NBN for Murdoch; Killing the carbon price? #MurdochRoyalCommission

It’s official. The world has refused Morrison entry to the Climate Ambition Summit because his 2030 targets are too weak. Aust now joins Saudia Arabia & Russia in the club of climate deniers. PM’s weak 2030 target doesn’t just put lives at risk, it isolates us from the world.

Cartoon in the Oz today is missing its punchline. Let me add it: Aust: 25 mill popn, 583 deaths Sweden: 10 mill popn, 5821 deaths. If we had the same death rate per head as Sweden, there would be about 14,000 Australians who couldn't laugh at this cartoon because they'd be dead.

So the Aust Post CEO has resigned over $20k worth of watches given to executives as bonuses, because that’s what the PM wanted. I look forward to seeing who resigns over the taxpayer purchase of land for $30m valued at $3m, which I’m certain the PM will equally insist happens...

Sadly, there are moves to take mobile phones away from innocent refugees in Aust detention, who’ve wasted away for more than 7yrs. Many are my friends. Their phone, like yours or mine, is their lifeline to support, legal counsel, the outside world. It’s not right #NoPhoneNoLife

Listening to the PM like everyone here in Aust & what I understood was. “It’s essential. Unless it’s not. Then it’s essentially not essential. I can’t be clearer” Plus people can buy a new shirt at a shopping centre ? WTF? PM just had a shocker. Surely should be in lockdown now
