Student leaders of the University of the Philippines hit President Rodrigo Duterte for his threat of defunding the school following the call of the Ateneo de Manila University students for academic strike.
Roque said he clarified to the President that students of the private Ateneo de Manila University were the ones calling for a student strike and not those of the state-funded UP System.

President Duterte threatened to defund the University of the Philippines over calls for academic strikes to protest the government's alleged failure to respond to the calamities. The campaign, however, originated from Ateneo de Manila University, not UP.
