With so much missing from the U.S.-Taliban deal, some wonder if it's simply an agreement to secure a U.S. troop withdrawal from Afghanistan. By @FrudBezhan

5/ As to whether or not the UK will seek an extension to the transition period, according to the Withdrawal Agreement both sides have to agree through the Joint Committee before July 1. There can only be one extension and it would last either one year or two years

3/ The agreement leaves the Afghan government out to dry by scheduling withdrawal before a Taliban/Afghan gov deal. Our military leverage could have been used to help the Afghans secure concessions from the Taliban - on protections for rights of women and children, for instance.

Singing of Auld Lang Syne starts in the European Parliament as the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement is approved by MEPs

Taliban declaring victory after US, conditional, withdrawal agreement. Not surprising theyd do that.. But are they wrong to consider it a win? US says it’s leaving and not asking much in return after nearly 19 yrs of war.

Following PM @BorisJohnson ’s decision to pause the process of ratification of the Withdrawal Agreement, and in order to avoid a no-deal #Brexit , I will recommend the EU27 accept the UK request for an extension. For this I will propose a written procedure.

In view of the rejection of the Withdrawal Agreement by the House of Commons, I have decided to call a European Council on 10 April. #Brexit

EU27 responds to UK requests in a positive spirit and: ? agrees to Art. 50 extension until 22 May if Withdrawal Agreement approved next week ? if not agreed next week then extension until 12 April ? approves ‘Strasbourg Agreement’ ? continues no-deal preparations

Britain should act to ease tensions in the Gulf, not fuel a military escalation that began with US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear agreement. Without credible evidence about the tanker attacks, the government’s rhetoric will only increase the threat of war.

THIS IS JUST THE WITHDRAWAL AGREEMENT. It will take YEARS AND YEARS to negotiate the actual Future Relationship with the EU. That's YEARS of neglecting to discuss schools, hospitals, social care. YEARS of endlessly discussing Brexit. YEARS of waste. YEARS of anger.

Quite a run of form for Rees Mogg: 1) Vows never to “abandon” the DUP then abandons the DUP 2) Describeswithdrawal agreement as slavery then votes for it 3) Insults people who didn’t go to Eton, especially Wykehamists 4) Promotes AfD 5) Explains the enormous power UK has in EU

My message to PM : The EU position is clear and consistent. The Withdrawal Agreement is not open for renegotiation. Yesterday, we found out what the UK doesn't want. But we still don’t know what the UK does want. #brexit

Listening to debate in : there seems to be a dangerous illusion that the UK can benefit from a transition in the absence of the WA. Let me be clear: the only legal basis for a transition is the WA. No withdrawal agreement means no transition.
