Behind Trump’s back, US allies regularly mock him. I’ve seen it happen after nearly every summit. But in their private one-on-ones with the President, they’re extremely deferential. Very much like the Trump-Zelensky call. That’s part of the problem.

It is just not true that the July 25th Trump-Zelensky call transcript is the only evidence of Trump’s use of public office for private gain.
