Continued conflict has displaced nearly a million people in northwest Syria since last December. @UNOCHA  is working to provide urgently needed humanitarian assistance to traumatized & frightened civilians.

An all-out offensive by Russian-backed forces has displaced some 1 million people in northwestern Syria since December. Civilians are being subjected to "aerial bombardment, to shelling, to ground forces," says @avrilbenoit . "The scope is unprecedented."

Airstrikes in Idlib, Syria killed at least 15 people, including at least one baby, report monitors. They were displaced people sheltering on a farm. The government's offensive has killed at least 500 civilians since December, and forced ~1 million from their homes.

Almost 1 million people have been displaced from northwestern Syria since December. "It's an unprecedented catastrophe," says @avrilbenoit . "The humanitarian organizations, the Syrian doctors ... are absolutely shocked by the suffering going on right now."

Reached out to Jim Mattis today in regard to Trump's latest decision regarding Syria and Turkey. Just heard back. Asked the former SECDEF if he will speak on the issue. He declined with a "No, thanks." Said he stands on his resignation letter from last December.

Breaking - Brett McGurk, the President’s envoy to the coalition against ISIS, has resigned his post effective December 31. He had planned to exit in 2019 but accelerated the departure due to disagreement with the snap decision to pullout of Syria.

In December 2017, coalition forces effectively regained control of all territory held by ISIS in Syria and Iraq and in May 2018, five senior ISIS leaders were captured in a joint operation. ISIS is on the run. Literally.
