August 14, 2019 marks the 6th anniversary of the largest, most horrific mass killings of protesters in the world in decades: #Egypt ‘s Rabaa massacre. Never forget the 1000+ protesters murdered. Demand justice.

#OnThisDay 6 years ago, Egyptian security forces killed hundreds of supporters of Egypt's first democratically elected president Mohamed Morsi. It was one of the deadliest days for demonstrations in Egypt's modern history known as the 'Rabaa massacre'

The Rabaa massacre in Cairo six years ago today, in which over 900 people died, "has cast a shadow over Egyptian society that lingers to this day" says @AmnestyOnline

Today, August 14, 2019, marks the sixth anniversary of the Rabaa massacre—the worst mass killing in #Egypt 's modern history. It is important to remember, because we are forgetting. It isn't the sort of day that anyone who's even vaguely interested in the Middle East should forget

Each August 14, I think of the Rabaa massacre in Cairo, in 2013. About a thousand killed. The bloody end of the Arab Spring.

@nytimes  @ddknytA  @TheAtlantics  I wrote in : @TheAtlantic  "Beyond the personal stories of death, fear, and families torn apart, Rabaa, and the military coup that preceded it, told a remarkable, and a remarkably sad, story of a country that appeared intent on destroying itself "

In his world of doublespeak, Egypt's Pres Sisi says he's fighting "terrorism" but then oversees the murder of 817+ protesters in Rabaa Square six years ago and since then the detention (and often torture) of 60,000.

In all my years of reporting, I haven't witnessed so much concentrated death than the clearing of Rabaa when over 900 ppl were slaughtered in a single day. I personally counted over 250 bodies & 1 truck of human sludge. Yet no one's been held accountable.

Why does Egypt's Pres Sisi try to whitewash the Rabaa Square massacre of 817+ protesters? Because he oversaw the slaughter. No wonder he's sweating profusely on . This video shows how this bloodbath unfolded.

Egypt Pres Sisi's profuse sweating shows his discomfort with his lies on 60 Minutes such as that he has no political prisoners (actually: 60,000) or the Rabaa Sq massacre was of "thousands" of armed men (only dozen weapons found among 817+ people murdered)

Five years ago under Gen Sisi's direction, Egypt killed 817+ protesters in Rabaa Square--a crime against humanity. Sisi is now president. No perpetrator has been prosecuted or even questioned. Only surviving protesters have been prosecuted.

3 years today since Sisi directed killing of 817+ at Rabaa Square. Still awaiting justice.

Sisi killed 817+ at Rabaa, tortures many, detains 10,000s, but Trump says he has "a great friend & ally in the US."

Sisi not concerned about killing 817+ at Rabaa Sq because loss of life elsewhere was larger.
