Pres. Eisenhower (Republican) said “The American mind at its best is both liberal and conservative.” There are high-minded liberal principles and high-minded conservative principles; corporatists like Trump are neither. The EPA was established by a Republican (Nixon), by the way.

Former House impeachment manager Rep. Jerry Nadler tells @andersoncooper  he believes what Pres. Trump did was “far worse” than what impeached former Pres. Nixon ever did.

Today, the 1868 effort to remove Pres. Johnson appears rather petty. The impeachment of Pres. Nixon is often remembered as a model of bipartisan cooperation. So how will history judge Pres. Trump’s impeachment? NPR’s Ron Elving takes the long view:

#OTD in 1969, Pres. Nixon hosted the #Apollo12  astronauts & their wives at the White House. Their entertainment - watching “Marooned,” a 1969 film about 3 American astronauts who become stranded, only to be saved by the Soviets before their oxygen runs out. Strange choice.

Pres. Nixon resigned 44 years ago. Hard to convey those days, the sense that the country was coming apart. Thought the era of “enemies lists” was safely behind us! But a lesson from then that makes me an optimist today: we fought back and we changed the congress and the country.

The #Apollo11  crew returned to Earth#today  in 1969. After splashdown they wore special garments to contain whatever microbes they might have picked up on the Moon until they were placed in the Mobile Quarantine Facility on the USS Hornet. Pres Nixon welcomed them home. #NASA60th 

Cynthia Nixon calls images of separated families "devastating." "I am glad [Pres. Trump] has signed this executive order against himself, protecting them from him. I wish he would sign some more executive orders protecting all of us from him."
