The IAEA now confirms that Iran lied. And that Iran continues to lie. Everything I told you a year ago has now been confirmed by @iaeaorg  . The IAEA confirmed that Iran is has been violating the Non-Proliferation Treaty. Iran continues to hide its secret nuclear weapons program.

As we see the arms control regime eroding, we need to preserve the Non-Proliferation Treaty, strengthen nuclear arms control, modernise the Vienna Document & work to develop new norms for emerging technologies:

We should be deeply skeptical of Turkey’s nuclear ambitions given Russia’s support for a Turkish nuclear program, and Turkey’s recent purchase of the S-400 missile system. The nonproliferation treaty is crucial for international stability.

Some states, like Israel, have exercised their right not to sign the nuclear nonproliferation treaty. Others, such as Iran and North Korea, have cheated their responsibilities. Robert Litwak explains the difference in these 2 diplomatic approaches:

In 1945, a U.S. B-29 dropped a 20 kiloton nuclear bomb, “Little Man” on Nagasaki, Japan. No nuclear weapon has been used in the 73 years since. We must work strengthen the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. Our Resolution proposes to do just that:
