Never change, D.C. 😂 This @DCPoliceDept officer was caught driving around the National Mall blasting "Eye of the Tiger" for runners and bikers, because we could use any and all motivation we can get right now. (Courtesy: @Give_Em_Bell )
The @NatlParkService has closed its parks around the DC region, per @wamu885 . Maryland, too. (I figured that out by direct experience this morning at the National Arboretum.) Shifting to solitary, distanced exercise on the Mall, then. Stay safe, all.
The National Mall today, 11AM • I’ve seen fewer than 20 people outside on my neighborhood walk today • The District is *not* under a shelter-in-place order • No more small gatherings between the Capitol & Washington Monument@wusa9 #coronavirus
PLEASE STAY HOME: The National Guard and D.C. police will be blocking off access to Tidal Basin and the National Mall until further notice. FULL DETAILS:
Photos of the Neo Nazi protest in Washington DC today... Members of the Patriot Front marched from the National Mall, past the Capitol, ending near Union Station. Patriot Front is run by Thomas Ryan Rousseau, who founded the group in 2017, as a teenager. @wusa9 @washingtonpost
BREAKING: The Trump administration has backed down from plans to drastically limit protest near the White House and on the National Mall, after receiving thousands of public comments. If you come for our right to protest, you'll have to get through all of us.
It appears most of the folks down on the National Mall won’t be able to get very close to the tanks and military vehicles down by the Lincoln Memorial. That area is behind a lot of fencing and security (accessible to VIP’s and other ticketed guests).
Hi @Ocasio2018 - I noticed you think Trump’s ‘Salute To America’ was “poorly attended.” I was there. It was a *massive* crowd on the National Mall. Tens of thousands. I witnessed thousands more being turned away. I photoshopped you into the event so you can see it for yourself ?
The Trump administration is proposing to dramatically limit spontaneous demonstrations, protests near the White House and National Mall, and open the door to charging fees for protests. We have until Monday to tell them what we think about it. Don't wait.
Spicer said this was the first time floor coverings were used on the national mall. I took this photo at the inauguration in 2013.
