It passed under the radar but the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act that Trump signed into law in late December dropped sanctions against those responsible for murdering Khashoggi and eliminated proposed restrictions on arms sales to Saudi Arabia.
This year’s defense authorization and funding bills provide a historic $738 billion in funding for our national security – a $22 billion increase over last year. We’re making our military great again and ensuring we can implement the National Defense Strategy.
The change was set in motion by the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019.
The report has been in the works since 2018 after the National Defense Authorization Act created a commission, consisting of lawmakers and industry leaders, to draw up recommendations.
