Mitch McConnell calls #HR1 a "power grab" because it would:
1) Begin to overturn Citizens United.
2) Establish Automatic Voter Registration.
3) Bolster anti-bribery laws.
4) Protect the Voting Rights Act.

Yes. It's a "power grab" -- grabbing power back for the people.
Let's remember that probably all it would take to end this madness is for Mitch McConnell to say, "ok, let's vote."
Senator McConnell is in charge of the Senate. If Mrs. Pelosi refuses to allow the president to deliver the State of the Union in the House, I propose we move it to the Senate and make it happen!
It's infuriating, but here's where we are:

McConnell won't call a vote on the House-passed bills to reopen the government because he knows they will pass the Senate too. And Republicans' #1 priority isn't ending the shutdown, it's staying on Trump's good side.
You're going to want to make sure your friends see this:

Senators Booker, Coons, and Flake just asked for the Senate's unanimous consent to pass a bill protecting the Mueller investigation from President Trump.

But they didn’t get it.

Because @SenateMajLdr McConnell objected.
McConnell says bill passed by the House to reopen government is a "non-starter" w Senate Republicans.

YOU ALL VOTED FOR IT UNANIMOUSLY TWO WEEKS AGO.

YOU ALL...

ah screw it
Attention Senator McConnell:

It is time to re-open the government.

The House just passed funding bills the Senate already supported. Hundreds of thousands of workers are going without pay.

It is time to put country over loyalty to Trump.

It is time to show leadership.
To be clear, @SenateMajLdr Mitch McConnell has all the power he needs under the U.S. Constitution to let the Senate vote to end the government shutdown. The House bills would undoubtedly pass. He's simply refusing to do so without Donald Trump's permission. That's extraordinary.
Federal workers are not bargaining chips. @realDonaldTrump and @SenateMajLdr McConnell must end this shutdown and re-open the government immediately.
The House passed two bills last week to reopen the government, and yesterday, McConnell blocked them.

Let that sink in. Tomorrow we break the record for the longest government shutdown. Let’s vote on these bills.
