“We’re looking at changing the entire physical landscape of our island so we can stay above water,” says Marshall Islands poet and climate activist Kathy Jetñil-Kijiner.

Marshall Islands poet and climate activist @kathykijiner  is at #COP25  to sound the alarm on what the climate crisis is doing to her island nation. She shares a poem about the "kemem," a cultural celebration for first birthdays, and "how our cultural traditions give us hope."

For the first time, oceanographers have scanned the site near the Marshall Islands’ Bikini Atoll and mapped the simulated battlefield.

The Marshall Islands has challenged all 184 countries with a national #climate  action plan under the 2015 Paris Agreement on global warming to join their social media campaign #MAD4survival  to say they will strengthen that plan in 2020 l #COP25 

“It is people especially from the global south, especially from indigenous communities, who need to tell their stories,” she said before handing the mic to other young activists from Philippines, Russia, Uganda, Chine and the Marshall Islands.
