50 years ago, the number of human visitors to the lunar surface doubled. On Nov. 19, 1969, #Apollo12  astronauts Pete Conrad & Alan Bean landed their Lunar Module on the Moon, then completed 2 spacewalks. Richard Gordon orbited above in the Command Module.

During #Apollo12 , the people who helped build the spacecraft got to help name them as well. The command module name Yankee Clipper and lunar module name Intrepid were selected from suggestions from employees of each spacecraft's prime contractor. #Apollo50

NASA announces Blue Origin, SNC and SpaceX, along with Ceres Robotics and Tyvak, have been added to the CLPS commercial lunar lander program.

Gwynne Shotwell says SpaceX offered Starship/Super Heavy for NASA's CLPS program. Up to 100 tons to the lunar surface.

More Shotwell: "We're aiming to be able to drop Starship on the lunar surface by 2022."
