When Hon’ble Speaker of Lok Sabha called for dignified and disciplined conduct of MPs to ensure smooth functioning and maintenance of decorum in the House, the opposition resorted to disruption. They do not want the Parliament to function.

Delighted that the Lok Sabha has passed the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2019 after a rich and extensive debate. I thank the various MPs and parties that supported the Bill. This Bill is in line with India’s centuries old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values.

The first two sessions of the 17th Lok Sabha have been outstandingly productive. Parliament working till late at night, more women MPs speaking, more younger MPs participating in debates...these have become more common! I think it’s a great sign. #MannKiBaat

Earlier today, spoke at the last sitting of the 16th Lok Sabha. I congratulate all my fellow Lok Sabha MPs who enriched the proceedings with their insights. I also congratulate Speaker Sumitra Mahajan Ji for her outstanding efforts as the Speaker of the House.

I thank MPs from all the parties who supported The Constitution (One Hundred And Twenty-Fourth Amendment) Bill, 2019 in the Lok Sabha. I also appreciate those MP colleagues who enriched today’s debate with their views.
