Matalan has announced that it is implementing a furlough scheme at its warehouse after Knowsley. Last week some worker had expressed their concerns about how social distancing measures were being observed at the centre.
Matalan says workers at its Merseyside warehouse are being offered the option to stay at home and be placed on the government's job retention scheme. The firm had been criticised by the GMB Union over conditions at its distribution centre in Knowsley.
“Never have we faced such difficult and unpredictable times” - @Matalan confirms it is offering workers at its Knowsley distribution centre the option of staying at home and being furloughed. Says site has been deep cleaned and @GMB_union agrees it is “safe to work” there.
Social distancing concerns have been raised over Matalan Distribution Centre in Knowsley. One employee told ITV News he "did not feel safe in the workplace", while another issued a "cry for help."
