Pryor was not consulted for the movie and had to buy his own ticket to see it in the theater like everyone else. As he walked out, he noted to another theatergoer that it was not entirely accurate. "He asked how I knew that and I said, 'I’m Frederic Pryor.'"

Frederic Pryor was the American student imprisoned in East Berlin for espionage in 1961 and released six months later when U-2 pilot Francis Gary Powers was exchanged for the Soviet spy Rudolf Abel. Their story was told in the film "Bridge of Spies."
