At approx 10:55 a call for a trolley derailed between Fenway and Kenmore. FF’s had to carry multiple people in stoke baskets from the tunnel . 10 people transported @BOSTON_EMS  . A great job by multiple agencies working together.

OPINION: A 250% rise sounds dramatic but two and a half times very little is still not very much. The FF+’s vote is not only a tiny fraction of the electorate — it is a very small minority of white voters, probably less than one in ten.

This weekend approx 300 BFD FF’s participated in the skin cancer clinic. Our next screening will be 4/13 at HQ .The BFD is very appreciative of Dr. Christine Kannler & the Doctors and staff who are volunteering their time to help us. ⁦⁦⁩ ⁦⁩

FF’s show up having participated in interactive video learning and will wrap up training with typical WILDLAND certification of shelter deployment. You may see 20 #FFs  deploying personal tents in the tennis court parking lot thought the next few weeks!

Today is the 100 year anniversary of Boston’s great molasses flood. 21 people died including FF. George Layhe of E-31. When the tank exploded it severely damaged the Firehouse,causing an internal collapse ,trapping FF’s and killing FF’s Layhe in the debris

Pause and Remember 38 years ago Lt. Paul M.Lentini & FF James M. Gibbons both is E-37 LODD from injuries received battling 8 Alarm fire at 16-17 Arlington St. When the upper floors collapsed within trapping them and 4 other FF’s for hours & injuring several FF’s.

54 years ago today on Oct. 1, 1964, 5 Boston FF’s were killed when a 5-alarm fire ripped through a vacant building at 34 Trumbull St. in the So. End causing a wall to collapse. 1 civilian was killed.

Today Baker signed a bill into law that designates cancer as a work-related injury for FF’s across the State. The bill also has language specific to female FF’s that addresses breast & reproductive cancers.

The BFD is known for their ladder work. These vintage photos from the collection depict this BFD trademark. Multiple ladders & running hose lines over ladders provides numerous escape routes & gives FF’s a direct access to the seat of the fire.

On Sunday June 17th at 12pm a wreath laying ceremony to commemorate the 46th Anniversary of the Hotel Vendome tragedy that claimed the lives of 9 Boston FF’s will occur at the memorial which is located at Comm. Ave & Dartmouth St.

Boston FF’s demonstrating the use of pompier ladders in 1935. Although these ladders are rarely used today, all Boston FF’s must be proficient in their use. It is one of the last evolutions BFD Recruits must complete to graduate. It is a BFD tradition & confidence builder.

Last night and the film crew from were at E-33 & L-15 in Boston’s Back Bay to tape footage for their upcoming special on the hidden danger FF’s face; Cancer. The episode will air March 13 at 8 pm. Thank you for bringing attention to this issue.
