NEW: I've been investigating Trump's interference in the investigation into Turkish-owned Halkbank, and my suspicions were just confirmed. Attorney General Barr — at Trump’s request — was trying to orchestrate a sweetheart deal to please Erdogan'>President Erdogan.

Today in Syria: Russia takes control of main U.S. military facility abandoned earlier this week by American forces on Trump’s orders. This area is south of Kobani and went to Russia under the Putin-Erdogan deal. Russia now also owns the airstrip we built.

Only four days into Turkish attack and one week after Erdogan'>POTUS-Erdogan call: * UN: 130k displaced (likely to 3x) * ISIS terrorists escaping (caught after years of painstaking effort) * Syrians executed on roadways by Turkish-backed opposition forces * Main US supply lines cut..

Spoke w/ President Erdogan of Turkey to advise where we stand on all matters including our last two weeks of success in fighting the remnants of ISIS, and 20 mile safe zone. Also spoke about economic development between the U.S. & Turkey - great potential to substantially expand!

European nations are some of our closest allies. Our security is intertwined. If Trump's impulsive capitulation to Erdogan leads to a resurgence of ISIS, it threatens everyone- in Syria, in Europe, and here at home. America may not have a friend left after this presidency.
