Before our family watches @60Minutes , a last note from Cokie Roberts service last week. Our daughters were hugely impressed to walk into the cathedral and have @LesleyRStahl hand them mass pamphlets. I told them, "Lesley and I have many mutual friends," but they were skeptical.

One of the best legacies of Cokie Roberts’ life is how many young women journalists she lovingly mentored. Like a whole other set of sisters and daughters. Has been really moving to see their sheer number and deep appreciation.

I liked and respected Cokie Roberts very much. She understood people and politics. For nearly half a century, she was an institution in American journalism—tough but fair, insightful, and with a voice all her own. She'll be missed.

BREAKING: Legendary journalist and @ABC  News political commentator Cokie Roberts has died, according to her family. She was 75.

Cokie Roberts joined NPR in 1978 and left an indelible imprint on the network with her coverage of Washington politics. Roberts, along with Nina Totenberg, Linda Wertheimer and Susan Stamberg, were often called "the Founding Mothers of NPR."

Dear young aspiring journalists, the reason for the outpouring of sadness and love for Cokie Roberts isn’t just b/c she was smart and really good at what she did. Her humanity set her apart. She didn’t sacrifice it for her job.
